Kill Celtic F.C. – New Coach Onboarding

This document is provided  to support prospective new coaches prepare to coach at Kill Celtic Football Club and reflects FAI Safeguarding requirements as at January 2026.

All volunteer coaches working with children must be fully compliant with the Football Association of Ireland’s safeguarding framework. This includes Garda Vetting and completion of Safeguarding 1 training. The steps outlined below reflect the FAI’s official process. Safeguarding training may be completed while Garda Vetting is processing; however, no coaching activities may take place until both Garda Vetting and Safeguarding 1 have been fully approved.

1. Register for a MyComet Account

Register using the official FAI system. This account will hold your Garda Vetting and course certifications.

2. Download the NVB1 Garda Vetting Form

Start the vetting process by downloading the official NVB1 form from the FAI website.

3. Complete and Sign the NVB1 Form

The NVB1 form must be signed by an authorized Kill Celtic F.C. Club Officer:
• Club Secretary
• Club Chairman
• Children’s Liaison Officer (CLO)

You must also have valid Photo ID and Proof of Address available.

4. Submit the Garda Vetting Application via MyComet

Log into your MyComet account and upload the following documents:
• Completed NVB1 Form
• Photo ID
• Proof of Address

Select ‘Garda Vetting – Leinster (Excluding Dublin)’ from the FAI Garda Vetting page. You will then be redirected to MyComet to complete your submission.

5. National Vetting Bureau Email

Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an email from the National Vetting Bureau (NVB) to complete the online stage of the Garda Vetting process.

6. Processing Time

Garda Vetting typically takes several weeks depending on NVB processing times. Coaches may complete Safeguarding 1 training while Garda Vetting is being processed.

7. Safeguarding 1 Training

Safeguarding 1 (Basic Awareness) is a mandatory two-hour online course. You may complete this training while Garda Vetting is processing; however, you may not begin coaching until both Garda Vetting and Safeguarding 1 training are fully approved.

After completing the course, upload your certificate to your MyComet account or email it to childwelfare@fai.ie.
